Sometimes publishers produce extra copies that are signed, but are never intended to be sold to the public. Sometimes the 'number' is blank. Sometimes 'author's copy' or 'publisher's copy' is there in place of the number.
I've seen some limited editions being sold with more than 26 'lettered' copies; they simply start using aa, bb, etc. Could yours be oh-oh instead of zero-zero? Maybe your #00 (or #oo) was Grant's way of distinguishing these special copies from those that were sold to the public.
I agree! Finding a first printing, first edition for $3.50 (unsigned) would be an amazing bargain, even without a dust jacket! Your find is like finding a Da Vinci at a yard sale!
If this (these??) special copies did dot come with dust jackets or cases, then leave it as it is. If it is supposed to have a jacket, there is a chance Grant may have something stashed away that would make your book whole again.
Grant has been out of the Gunslinger jackets for quite a while, but they do show up on eBay occasionally, in the $100 range.
