Which Book Next?

Hi All,

New here, and wondered if I could get some suggestions from any of you guys. Basically, I've read a few Stephen King books and have largely enjoyed them, but realise that the books are quite varied. I started with 'The Shining' which I found to be outstanding, very much enjoyed the book. Next I read 'Pet Semetary', again which I found to be outstanding. After that, I read The Mist which I finished but found it just that little bit too far fetched to enjoy it (because animals coming back to life and inexplicably aware 5 year olds aren't at all far fetched...). Next I tried 'It' and just couldn't get on with that at all and abandoned the book after around 100 pages.

Based on that history, does any particular book jump out as a logical progression for me? I like the supernatural-type storylines, but I have never been interested in any type of sci-fi. Anything involving extra-terrestrial activity is an instant deal breaker for me.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Do you want big or small?

I'm thinking Carrie or Firestarter. Neither are big like It, but bother a full size novels.

Persevere with IT... please. It's one of his best IMO. Then what about dipping into some story collections? Everythings Eventual... Just after Sunset?

I'm 500 pages in to IT and it's remarkable. I've only scratched the surface of King's oeuvre but this is the best of his I've read, some of the writing is amazing. So, yes, I'd agree with others, here - give it (IT) another shot.

Agree, finish "IT". Other possibles are Bag of Bones, Duma Key, Lisey's Story, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

I would say read Duma key or Under the Dome for example.

Try Salem's Lot, and try The Stand. No aliens there. Although Stephen King says it's not one of his best, it's one of my top 5 books, SK or otherwise, I'd recommend Insomnia. I fell completely in love with the characters. Then there is Hearts in Atlantis, another book in which I found myself totally immersed in the story and in love with the characters.
Also, I'm just curious, what was it about It that made you lose interest?
