Little better today. LOTS of medication on board. We're getting ready to grill out. I'm still getting used to this new stomach of mine, but I've been doing really well eating solid foods in very little portions. I'm going to try a couple bites of a barbecued hamburger patty. Maybe a bite of a nicely charred hot dog. Lotta liquids, lot of protein drinks, lot of vitamins.
Good morning to all. New day, new week, new month. May it be kind to all.
Hope you had a good weekend- three day holiday for some. Is Mother Nature being kind?
Did some extra chores, actually had some downtime time. Felt good.
Iced herbal tea in hand and off to bean bag central. All are welcome to join.
Hi there Ka-Tet - I guess we can bring up anything here? I won't bore you with my day so far (although the bread turned out especially yummy!) Mmmm - I put 1/2 cup of quick oats and used bread flour so it's nice and chewy.
I ran across this and the picture of Steve looks a bit weird... then I read the story and apparently he went to Australia on a surprise visit back in 2007? Some of the members who have been here a long time or especially Ms. Mod must know about this. It was news to me so I thought I'd post a link and a picture:
This picture was taken on the set of Rose Red so didn't really have anything to do with the bookstore in Alice Springs--must have just been what the paper decided to go with for a press photo to run along with the article. It was a spur of the moment thing and he nearly got arrested for it! He, of course, had his passport so could have proven he was the real deal even if he hadn't been recognized but he thought it was pretty funny when he called to check in later that day and was telling me about it. He does this at other book stores, too, as do other authors as mentioned in that piece.
Good morning! Hope everyone had a good long weekend.
We had quite the start to our Labor Day. Or Scott did, anyway. He got up at 4 to go running, like usual. He got a ways up the road and heard a weird noise, he thought it sounded like a hurt animal. Then he saw something, across the street in the grass but couldn't tell what it was. He started to turn around to come back home, because he always takes the dog with him and didn't want him to get into a fight or something with a bigger animal. But something made him go a little closer, and that's when he saw it was a person lying there.
He thought maybe someone hit the person with a car, there is no sidewalk on that side of the street, just grass. So he ran over, and it was a young girl, he thought 14 or 15. She was still making noise and he asked her if she was ok and then he saw she had a shoestring or something tied around her neck.
He tried to help her get it off but she said no. He told her he needed to call 911 and she pointed at the ground, her phone was laying there next to her. So he gets the police and an ambulance on the way and tried again to get that off her neck but she wouldn't let him. She wasn't trying to get it off herself either, but she held on to his hand with a death grip.
The police and ambulance arrived and they got it off. The knot was in front so that along with her not wanting Scott to get it off made him think she did it herself. He gave a verbal statement to the police but we never heard anything more from them yesterday so they must be confident it was self-inflicted. Poor little girl and her poor folks! I can't stop wondering how they all are.
It shook Scott up pretty good. But thank goodness he came along. It wasn't tight enough to completely cut off her air, she could talk but her eyes were getting bloodshot and the veins on her face and forehead were bulging. He saved her life, most definitely. We just hope now that she gets the help she needs.
Sending big hugs and positive vibes to all. Tell the people in your life that you love them.
That was some experience for Scott. Thankful he was in the right place at the right time. Can he call the local police station to see the status of the girl? May the remainder of the week be a lot calmer. Take care Tina!!
Happy Tuesday everyone!!!
Hope all who celebrated had a good holiday. Oh Tina I hope the same. So many young teenage's doesn't feel well and
really need help. Poor girl, hope she will be okay soon.
Here's still very warm during the day. Feels like July instead of September. But nights are getting colder.
Please take care of you and be well. Stay safe too.
(((all in need or not)))
