    Default Is 'It' a Tommyknocker?

I haven't read 'It in a couple years, but I'm reading the Tommyknockers now and I remember 'It' came out of the sky a long time ago before people. Now he made his home in Derry, but I have to wonder if he was part of the crashed spacecraft that landed in Haven which is only a short way away and a much larger hunting ground for the creature. 'The Tommyknockers' was the next novel to come out after 'It' so he had to be aware of the connection. Maybe It changed over time into what It became all those years later. I would love it if someone has read an interview with the Author that says either way because I'm not finding it in my general google searches.

Nope, I don't think so. Tommyknockers are

    aliens
    and It is

the embodiment of evil, a demon, a god, whatever you want to call it.

I don't think that Mr. King has addressed this question, specifically, but the two types of creatures seem to have very different origins and very different behavior.

What Mike and Richie saw in IT was an object that came not just through space, but also across... what? Dimensions? Universes? Levels of the Tower? It sometimes wondered about the Turtle, but It certainly didn't consider itself to have ever been a part of any group.

AFAICT, the aliens in The Tommyknockers were simply creatures from another planet who liked to make batteries, but who couldn't even figure out a simple AC->DC converter.

Default I think 'It' came to earth with the Tommyknocker ship. thoughts?

I'm reading Tommyknockers right now and have read It several times. I think it is either in the climax or in the sweat lodge that they see 'It' crash land on earth in some prehistoric time. It can't be a coincidence that his next novel takes place only a short way away and involves a buried spacecraft. 'It' might be the only survivor of that crash. I know there is the whole mythology of the turtle and that It reverts back to an almost spider form but I'm not sure that counts as the true form and also the thing "It' was existed on that planet for a long time, It probably went through some changes over that million or so years. The Tommyknockers on the other hand have been in basic stasis all that that time. I'm looking for some confirmation although it is doubtful King would ever confirm it but I can always hope. Does anyone have any insight into this?

'It' did come down in a craft though, and he intimates that the Tommyknockers can travel across dimensions as well. Also 'It' could be something of an unreliable narrator as it has something of an ego. I just keep coming back to King writing this directly after and setting it just a stone's throw from Derry.

    My thought is this:

Didn't you already post this or am I losing it?

You've posted that idea already here.

Sorry didn't see it come up, and it was my first post so I tried posting it in the IT forum rather than the general. If the moderator wants to delete it feel free.

Also I would like to say that discussing a character with a pronouns name makes my head hurt. I future posts I will be referring to 'It' as 'the stapler because at least then I don't have to go back and fix nine different indefinite pronouns.

No worries... it takes a wee while to learn your way. I've merged the two threads together.
