I'm 300-odd pages into IT and it's utterly engrossing and more than a little dark. Around pg 324 (at least in the edition I'm reading) there's a reference to Moose-blowers, which Mike Hanlon's parents attach to the their three scarecrows to keep birds away from their crops. I'd never heard of these things so I looked 'em up on Youtube. This was the only film I found and as you'll see you don't actually get to hear the Moose blower 'speak', nonetheless, the sounds he produces from the other two instruments is deeply creepy and if it in any way approximates that of the Moose blower, it certainly enriches that passage in the book. The whole description of life on the Hanlon farm is wonderfully evocative and more than a little redolent of Bradbury - great. Anyway, here is the clip. Anyone out there actually come across Moose blowers???
