If that's the policy, that's fine, but it seems to me that once others have contributed to a thread, it becomes community property.

I guess what we have to remember is that although this is a website first and foremost for fans (and critics) to exchange news and information regarding Stephen, as much as possible we try to keep everybody happy because the SKMB is largely about community.
In the FAQ, it states that "Data posted to this message board becomes the property of StephenKing.com." but having said that, the administrators will always work with people on a case by case situation.

Not quite what I was getting at, Hoss.

By allowing the OP to have a thread closed--or worse, vanished entirely--you negate all of the work put into the thread by the other posters who've contributed. If I spend an hour (or two or three) hunting up cites and relevant information to add to the thread, only to have it all poofed away at the OP's whim, then I guarantee you that all of my future responses will be Hey look--cute kitties doing silly stuff.

I will save everything worth putting any actual thought into for boards that appreciate all of their posters' contributions.
