Lawn Jockey

I read Duma Key last year and I absolutely loved it. Every time I opened that book I was completely immersed - and I did find it brilliantly scary. But one thing confused me, what the hell is a lawn jockey??? As far as I know, we don't have them in the UK, at least I've never heard of them. In fact, over the years SK has thrown a few Americanisms my way, which I've sometimes had to just guess at or else grill my friend, who's from Connecticut. Can anyone out there shed some light?
