Have you ever been stuck on a character? I was for a while. Then along came Korn and the lovely sounds of Coming Undone!! This character was so hard for me to "understand" because she's insane. I was working on other pieces of the story and trying to figure her out. It made me wonder how often it happens that a song becomes inspiration. I was all excited when I first heard that SK listens to music while he writes. I thought to myself, yup, I must be good if I do something like he does. But then again, he is my spiritual father and all, LMAO! But I was so stuck, I couldn't put a personality to her. It was like a lightning bolt hit me in the head when I heard the words of this song. Suddenly my character became a real person. (As we speak, she's battering against the walls of my skull wanting to get out and have a good kill.) So now I'm a happy camper, working at full speed, and I know you're going to love this one, "No Mercy!!" If you hear loud Korn playing from somewhere in the vicinity of Mass, it's just me, don't panic!
One thing I'm wondering is, how to write about places I've never been to? There's a piece about Paris, and I've never been there. Of course this story is set 100 years ago, so it's going to be a bit sticky, modern Paris is different from old Paris and all. I've got all my boyfriend's pictures from when he went, but I'm still not "feeling" the city. So, how does one do it? Make a city they've never been to become real? Wish I could just make it up! I'm good at that!
So, I'd say, you're going to need ear plugs around here (not really, I use headphones to block out the world and get into my own little place) and be on the lookout for a crazy lady, just in case she really does escape my head! She'll be really beautiful, really insane, and she'll want to make you BLEED! Hugs!
(Hope I make my "daddy" proud! That is, if Mercy doesn't get him first!)
