I guess that would be the case, but at least I won’t feel compelled to defend suspect actions of a particular party or make excuses when they go against their core principles.

I’ve reached the point where I would have to say I’m a Libertarian.Liberals favor government action to promote equality. Conservatives favor government action to promote order. Libertarians favor freedom and oppose government action to promote either equality or order.
Political parties are a little like organized religions for me. I've found parts of several of them to resonate for me but overall, not enough there to make a full commitment.
