Because the article mentioned a woman had done it recently, and for less money than the doll, I googled it to see if this was a "thing" in Brazil; and apparently, it is. Young women around age 20 doing online auctions of their virginity. I do not know anything about Brazil, but having visited some countries in that direction, the moral codes are somewhat different than a typical North American.
