Gosh, that's a shame. I don't know Shasta, it's just beyond me not to say something directly to people if they are really offending me at work. I would say something to him straight up. Something like, I don't want to see that crap every time I come in here, if you don't cut it out I'm going to tell the boss. I might also suggest to him that he's kinda pervy in a bad way and that he's freaking a lot of people out.
PS He sounds creepy. Who watches porn in public? Yuck.

If co-workers are intimidated enough not to enter a work area, then this is a problem and he has created a hostile work environment. I would leave an anonomous note stating that his porn viewing while on company time is against company policy and a theft of company money as he's doing it when he should be working (i.e. he's getting paid to watch porn) and if it doesn't stop he will be reported to HR. If it continues, then report his *ss! Shasta, you must also be prepared that your HR person may also prohibit any use of company computers usage outside of the normal work things off limits, so you may have to stop using yours to come here to the SKMB. It sucks, but what's good for the goose............ Us SKMB members may not be porn stars (I'm not speaking for everyone), but it is outside of normal work usage. My company would've fired this guys butt a long time ago.

I'm one of those weirdo's who thinks when at work you should be working. Not on e-bay, or Facebook, or surfing the net. I also don't think you should be having texting conversations while at work. (I absolutely hate having to wait while an employee continues personal texts while I - the customer - wait.)

Agreed. The only time I check my phone/online when at work is during my break. I've seen younger/junior members of staff using their phones when they've been supervising patient's and I always tell them it's unacceptable!

So, I've been wanting to do a poll and I didn't have a topic and *poof* a topic falls in my lap!

Apparently our warehouse guy watched porn on his work computer. Video, pictures, everything. His computer faces the back of our warehouse, where we all walk in an out of multiple times a day. I have often seen him click off of his computer quickly but I just learned today it's because of the porn.

Now, I have no issue if you want to watch porn. Fine. Go for it.

But not at work. And DEFINITELY not where I can see. I don't like nudity. Ever.

So, everyone at my work who has seen it refuses to say anything, even though it really freaks some people out. Some of these women have known about it for years. It creates an uncomfortable work environment, in my opinion.

So the poll is this - if I see it should I be a whistleblower?

Basis for a sexual harrassment case. Maybe if this was pointed out to the person with not enough work to do, he would desist.

Yup, I would whistleblow. Watching porn in public is highly sexualised behaviour, if he is doing it that often he is either addicted, and/or receiving sexual gratification from it. I'm not embarrassed by sex/nudity/porn but finding someone watching it at work would make me extremely uncomfortable. Would these people be refusing to say anything if he was regularly caught exposing himself or masturbating at work? People can do what they want at home but this is unacceptable in public, and I would make sure he knew that!

I'd find a way to get the message to him without going to the people responsible for hiring and firing. Is there another co-worker who could be enlisted to talk to the man? Someone the man is on good terms with? Someone who could talk to him and allow the man some wriggle room? Are the people you would notify the kind of people willing to talk to a person? Or are they the type that would dismiss someone simply because the behavior of the other is not in keeping with their world view? Is the man stable? Would he go "postal"? How would the postal service handle this situation? They seem to have put an end to their workers doing harm to others...or at least, we don't hear about it anymore.

If armed men enter the building...watch their feet closely.

I'm glad I did this poll because I think this is a really good idea. I think I may actually take the bull by the horns, if you will, and say something myself. I personally like the guy and I think I can make it jokey enough that he won't freak out. Hopefully that will put an end to it.
