Now I have a great poll topic!

So, I've been wanting to do a poll and I didn't have a topic and *poof* a topic falls in my lap!

Apparently our warehouse guy watched porn on his work computer. Video, pictures, everything. His computer faces the back of our warehouse, where we all walk in an out of multiple times a day. I have often seen him click off of his computer quickly but I just learned today it's because of the porn.

Now, I have no issue if you want to watch porn. Fine. Go for it.

But not at work. And DEFINITELY not where I can see. I don't like nudity. Ever.

So, everyone at my work who has seen it refuses to say anything, even though it really freaks some people out. Some of these women have known about it for years. It creates an uncomfortable work environment, in my opinion.

So the poll is this - if I see it should I be a whistleblower?

I don't care about porn. I am not remotely icked out by nudity or sex or anything.

If you can't wait until you get home to watch porn, you have a problem.

Work is not the place to indulge, because frankly who watches porn just to watch porn?

Yup, I would whistleblow. Watching porn in public is highly sexualised behaviour, if he is doing it that often he is either addicted, and/or receiving sexual gratification from it. I'm not embarrassed by sex/nudity/porn but finding someone watching it at work would make me extremely uncomfortable. Would these people be refusing to say anything if he was regularly caught exposing himself or masturbating at work? People can do what they want at home but this is unacceptable in public, and I would make sure he knew that!

Addendum to last statement. If this fella is actually offending people with his behavior someone should say something to him. If he won't stop on his own then I'd tell the boss.

Atom - Right? Like porn all you want but not while you're getting PAID! (Unless you have that kind of a job....)

Ally - I honestly think they wouldn't. I work with some very meek people.

There are two people who said I should just ignore it. I would like to know why those people think that.

I promise you, people, no one will attack you (or at least I won't!) but I do want to hear opinions on both sides before I decide what to do. PM me if you want it to be private! (NO THAT WASN'T DIRTY!!)

A person should not do anything on the clock that they are not paid to do. If someone is doing things at work that's making them unproductive, it will catch up to them in the end. I have a huge work ethic and am very task oriented. I couldn't imagine wasting my time on the clock.
I'm a live and let live kinda gal, but like if I said up there, if he is causing people to feel harassed he should be made to stop it. I'd ask him myself though, before I went to the boss.

I'd find a way to get the message to him without going to the people responsible for hiring and firing. Is there another co-worker who could be enlisted to talk to the man? Someone the man is on good terms with? Someone who could talk to him and allow the man some wriggle room? Are the people you would notify the kind of people willing to talk to a person? Or are they the type that would dismiss someone simply because the behavior of the other is not in keeping with their world view? Is the man stable? Would he go "postal"? How would the postal service handle this situation? They seem to have put an end to their workers doing harm to others...or at least, we don't hear about it anymore.

If armed men enter the building...watch their feet closely.

He's done it for the last nine years or so, so I'm guessing he won't stop.

Apparently one girl is so freaked out by it she won't go into the warehouse.
