Foreshadowing 11/22/63

Just finished my 1st re-read of Wolves Of The Calla since it came out. There is a brief moment where they are discussing what ended up being the idea/plot of 11/22/63 - what if you could go back in time and prevent the assassination of JFK. When I first read Wolves, this didn't really stand out to me, but this time around, it really gave me pause to think that Sai King had already been thinking about this idea that would end up being his novel, 11/22/63. Just thought I'd open up a thread for comments, and wondered if anybody had remembered this little moment from Wolves when 11/22/63 came out?

I don't have a clear recollection of that, no... but you've made me want to go back for (yet) another re-read just to check it out.

Indeed, I do remember that moment when I first read Wolves. The assassination was in my era and I couldn't help but think- way deep down- now that would make a good connection book.

I've noticed JFK's assassination come up a LOT in King's works... Since he was alive when it happened, it's very understandable. And interesting.

I've read that he tried writing the novel back in the 70's, but decided against it at that point.

I just finished it too, and yeah I noticed it. I also noticed that "Salem's Lot is in there too.

Yeah, I finished Wolves about a month ago and as soon as read that part, I thought "so that's when the seed of going back to 11/22/63 was planted". It does say in the afterword (as Nate says) that he tried writing it in the 70s, close to the 10 year anniversary, so I had a mental image of Stephen writing the bit in Wolves and thinking "hmm, maybe I should go back to that JFK book". He also said he was put off by the sheer amount of research needed when he was younger, and it felt too weird, too soon.
