Do people ask you, "do you ever read anything besides SK?"

So a friend asks me, "do you ever read anything besides SK?". I thought for a moment... sure... periodically I enjoy some non-fiction.. huge fan of Hunter Thompson and Noam Chomsky. Occasionally, Ill read (usually re-read) some Steinbeck or Sallinger. But in large.... no, I really I don't. I feel as though the entire body of work of SK is just one big epic tale of a strange universe, with many worlds... all linked by the Dark Tower. I feel like if I miss a SK book, I am missing part of "the story". Do others feel this way?

While I have read and re-read just about everything SK since Carrie was first published in paperback, I do read many other authors. In fact, there are times when I feel like I have OD'd on SK and have to "put him away" for a while.

I do agree that at this point I HAVE to read everything or I am missing part of "the story" as you put it.

Not really. I read about a book a week so I'm always reading something different.

I do get, "Wow, you really like Stephen King" a lot when people see my bookshelf.

I don't feel like I'm missing part of the story if I don't read everything Mr. King publishes. I haven't read all of the Dark Tower series and I guess ignorance is bliss for me. I also haven't read some other tomes...but then again, while I love Mr. King's works, there are other authors whom I also love. So many stories and not enough time.

Nope. They don't need to.
Everyone who knows me at all knows that my favorite writer is SK..... they also know that I do read other writers, and that I have been known to read a biography or two now and then.
