When I was in High School, I was bagging groceries at a little IGA in the evenings and on the weekends. We had a couple of guys come through the line and I kept looking at them thinking one of them was quite familiar. I asked how he was doing and the other guy asked if he looked familiar. I told him yes but that I couldn't quite place him. He shook my hand and said he was Boxcar Willie. I asked him to do the train whistle and he did. Do you remember when his commercials were on the tube all the time trying to sell his album?

Boxcar Willie use to put on a great concert. Haven't hard of him until my brother had concert tickets and couldnt go. He gave them to me. we went.My husband and I. found it to be a memorable concert.

On the playlist today is "Mississippi" Fred McDowell - Downhome Blues cd

I'm a big North Mississippi Allstars fan and they do a lot of covers from old "hill country" blues musicians you've probably never heard of like Fred McDowell and R.L. Burnside. I had never heard of this guy until I started reading some of the liner notes on the NMA albums. I liked the NMA songs so I went to the source and really love it.
