I'm not really a newbie, more like a been awaybie.

I haven't been active on the SKMB for awhile for several reasons. I had 2 back surgeries (who can stop at just one?) and some minor brain surgery. Let me tell you, the hair that was shaved off grows back with a mind of its' own, I've given up trying to make it do anything it doesn't want to do!

Also, my nephew Alex, was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer 2 years ago (around the time I was getting my back and head carved up) and that has been an ordeal. He's 7 now, and probably only a few weeks away from death. Yes, it hurts to write that, but seeing him in the condition he is in now hurts worse.

My sister Wendy, has shown an amount of strength through all of this I would never have thought possible. She's amazing.

Let me tell you, having my SK books to see me through all this has been a blessing, I do read other books, but revisiting the DT series was like spending time with old friends.

I hope to start paying attention to the board again, though there is one more hurdle to get over with Alex, and it's going to be a real ordeal. But I look forward to hanging around the board more.
