Question Am I the only one who liked the ending?

I thought it was a really good idea.

And why should a bunch of alien kids NOT look at humans the way human kids look at insects or rodents? And use this cool thing they have found to have "fun" with? I find it totally plausible. It made sense, it offered a good resolution...

    I liked it.

I liked it, mostly because it surprised me. Also, I think it is an interesting example of imho sK's ability to tie up a story with the correct ending, which, if I read other authors accurately, isn't the easiest thing to do.

    I loved it.

Reminded me of a Twilight Zone-type ending. I was just so glad it wasn't something global-warming related with a big political message attached to it.

I have just finished UTD and really enjoyed it. I was confused though as the reviews I read before reading UTD referred to the twist right at the end, yet the twist is touched upon

halfway through the book in a conversation between Cox and Barbie....how does Cox know it was a possibility, is he hiding something etc??

Anyway, because the idea was floated so early, I totally dismissed the actual ending and was totally convinced for the rest of the book that the dome was actually protecting the town from an impending global disaster and the twist would be that the rest of the world is destroyed but those left in the dome would be saved to start rebuilding civilisation afterwards.
