You couldn't pay me enough money to be as famous as he is. My husband and I talk about this all the time because he's always wanted to be famous. No thank you. No way no how. He's best friend was vaguely famous for about six months and even that annoyed me.

And Mr. King seems so down to earth. I can't even imagine how hard it must be on him to be that type of guy who just has an enormous talent that people love. A blessing and a curse!

I'm like that with music too. I hate when groups I love get popular. But, on the other hand, being popular means they make money and stick around longer, so in the end it's all good.
I used to feel this way too, and I still do to a degree.

Like, I wanted to go see Green Day recently. It was $70+ to sit behind the stage. WHAT??? I saw them at 924 Gilman in SF in 1994 for $4!!!! That drives me nuts. But I am happy for THEM. Just not for ME.

Or, like the fact that you used to be able to send SK books and he would sign them. If he did that now that's all he would 24 hours a day!! But because he's famous it enables us to get more King, all the time.

Again, a blessing and a curse!

I had to take my car in for service (a problem with the brakes) and I tried a new shop. When I picked it up, I got talking to the (assistant?) manager and discovered he is a big King fan. He just loves the Dark Tower series and even has a couple tattoos (one is the coffin of the Regulators!). He hasn't yet read The Wind Through the Keyhole so I strongly recommended it to him.

that. Guess I should give it a try. Of course I try with the exercise before Shining.

Oh, and I got signed by the Sox, yay! Gotta serve my time first, though.
