For me it's the season two opener of Chris Carter's series Millennium, "The Beginning and the End", quite possibly one of the finest moments of television, perhaps even among many movies, ever filmed... Frank Black is a profiler who has stumbled across a dark pattern behind all the serial killers he's been tracking, one of apocalyptic proportions. He's being driven inexorably toward his destiny by the Millennium Group, who are profilers like himself (or is that all that they are?), and some the killers themselves, like the one in this episode, played by Doug Hutchison, familiar to viewers of the X-Files as Eugene Victor Tooms.
