So moving right along... Ive come to the point in The Stand where Nadine is shacking up with Harold, fulfilling all of his sexual desires, sans "that one little thing" (sounds like the preachers daughter I dated in college... I digress, sorry).
I know that when it comes to Randy Flagg, Nadine is torn between desire and sheer terror. She is drawn toward the dark man, and this terrifies her. We know her last ditch effort to save herself from Flagg was throwing herself at Larry, in which ol' Larry rejected her advances (he's a righteous man, you know..).
So Nadine heads to Flagstaff mountain, and plays with a Parker Brothers Ouijia board thingy, and returns back to Boulder to Harold's house.
I am kind of confused as to the nature of Nadine and Harold's relationship. It's fairly clear to me that she is there for the dark man. As we know that Harold is also drawn toward the dark man, and also hates Stu and the Boulder crew. So basically Randall Flagg is using Nadine to get Harold to do his work, right? Yes.
But is Nadine still fighting the dark man in her heart. Do you believe she is still trying in some way to save herself from Flagg, with Harold, as she attempted to do with Larry? Or has Nadine given in to Flagg altogether? Seems like she KIND of likes Harold a little bit..... maybe im just crazy after 800 pages...
