Default My favorite SK novel so far...

Thanks to all (if you happen to see this!) for the welcomes I received.

I've read at least half Mr. King's work by now, and so far THE STAND is my absolute favorite (as in, if you were stranded on a desert island, which SK book would you simply have to have...). I liked that it wasn't just a tale of good vs. evil but how human we all are in that a crisis of catestrophic proportions will bring forth whatever is predominant within our souls, be it good or evil, and that we (and those around us) don't always know which will emerge victorious. His protagonists are always so real, too; flawed, often insecure in many ways, and often reluctant heroes.

I say this without having yet read the DARK TOWER books (still looking for a couple, and I want to read them in order), so I might change my mind about favorites. I had the pleasure, though, of reading a short story which contained some DARK TOWER characters, though, (THE LITTLE SISTERS OF ELURIA) which has now whet my appetite.

I have read several books of SK short stories, and have thoroughly enjoyed them, so I find it disturbing that in Mr. King's foreword in most of these collections he refers to the declining interest in the short story form of both the reading public and the publishing industry.

Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and Happy New Year!

Hello and welcome! I'd wait till I read the Tower books before casting your vote on favs, tho. Please don't look in any of the Tower threads here as they might (and do) contain spoilers! Let us know your thoughts on the Tower books when you start reading them. You're in for the biggest thrill ride of your life, you know?! I envy anyone's first time on their journey to the Tower, with Roland and his Ka-tet!!
