Default searching for a novella written back in the early 80's about a woman shot in the head

    Hi there,

Have been a long time King fan but am having a horrible brain fart about a story that came out in Rolling Stones back in the early 80's about a woman who's husband tells her to clean up the house, she's clumsy always dropping or hurting herself, he is planning a party I think and as the day processes she is trying to clean but a gun in a closet goes off and shots her in the head but she doesn't realize it.

At least in my very relaxed mind of those years LOL thats how I remember it, can anyone help me?? I would really love to read it again, shortly after that story, the mist was printed in the rolling stone.

    thanks!!!!!!!!

The Revelations of 'Becka Paulson was in the July 19/August 2 issue of Rolling Stone but that's been the only one in that time period in that publication other than the non-fiction piece, The Horrors of '79 that was in the Dec. '79/Jan. '80 issue.

That's the story, which was part of The Tommyknockers. Steven Weber (The Shining) adapted it (quite effectively) for "The Outer Limits" in 1997.

"Revelations" was also published in the anthology I Shudder At Your Touch and in the signed limited edition of Skeleton Crew.

Another question--I used to sub to Twilight Zone and Heavy Metal magazines (best sci-fi and horror rags of the 80's, in my humble O).
"The Blue Air Compressor" was first published in January 1971 in Onan Magazine (University of Maine) where this guy--haha, never mind, it was pretty sick. In 1981, HM ran a revised version. ANYWAY, I have looked in anthologies, other mags, and just found out that it was never re-printed.
    Help?

    I don't think it's ever been reprinted.

There's also an audio version of I Shudder At Your Touch, for which Uncle Steve read the story himself. It's great.

Personally, I think the original version is a bit better than the Tommyknockers version; both are fine, but I'd take the original, which is well worth seeking out. Used copies of I Shudder At Your Touch are fairly easy to find at Amazon.
