Unfortunately nope...
I did get to play the triangle in 8th grade music appreciation class. Does that count?I believe it was to some Elton John song, that was right when the 'Yellow Brick Road' album came out. I still remember the teacher predicting that Elton was going to be around for a long time. Who knew?!
I know the rudiments of the piano and can two-finger my way through a melody and bang out a few chords. But my Hubby can play VERY well.
A few songs by ear, including Finlandia and parts of classical pieces that I've figured out. I can't read music.
I can play piano well enough to plink out melodies by ear, and if you give me a loooooong run up to it, to play simple pieces.
However, I can play a MEAN soprano recorder. If anyone's trying to get a medieval wind ensemble together, I'm your girl. I have to preface that by saying I haven't played in a while. I have a couple of friends that I used to play with in college, mostly when we were drunk, which was often. Why yes, we were known all over campus as the "drunk recorder girls." And probably worse things. But we really enjoyed ourselves!
Recorder
Our proudest achievement was to be able to play a 3-part arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon. Even if you don't know the name of it, you've heard it a MILLION times. We thought it was the height of hilarity to call it Taco Bell's Canon. You probably had to be there.
Here's a guy playing Taco Bell's Canon on the recorder. But he's playing on a treble recorder, which has a much lower and nicer tone. And he's playing...well, better that we used to. He's probably sober. Imagine this with more mistakes and squeakier, but with lots of joy and gusto!
Anyway, hit me up if you need a happy and fun, but not necessarily good, piano or recorder player!
Hey there Jen - we had Pachelbel's Canon at our wedding on the piano. That was on top of the church bells ringing and the piper outside creating a lovely racket with his bagpipes. Maybe we will call you for our anniversary to play your recorder![]()
I always wanted to learn to play the piano but never really messed with it.It may be easy.
dejolane
I'm prety sure that I can play the piano.......but I think the better question to ask would be can I play it well?![]()
