Artificial. Several reasons 1) we don't have room for a big one 2) the cats 3) the thought of killing a dryad. It's weird because we have tree farms all along our highway... oh well. Balsam fir incense does okay.

Small artificial is the way to go...for me anyhow...its just easier. There is something to be said for real though. However, my biggest memory of having a real tree as a kid was stepping on the fallen needles...OUCH!

A bit late - it's now December 17th already! But we finally bought a 6 foot Balsam Fir on the weekend. It's in my neighbour's garage keeping cold until hubby returns from Nunavut. I just hope his flight is not delayed by bad weather up there or else it will be me and my son putting it up and trying to get it to sit straight in the stand.
For now we are making do with a small artificial on top of a table. I only hope our real tree ends up looking as good as Jake's does!
It's from Nova Scotia, eh? Not too far from Maine I think. I liked geography but I cannot recall

I like the artificial ones myself, a) they don't shed, b) I don't feel like a waistfull person when it goes out the door after a month of use.

I have an artificial one that looks as good or better then most real ones and it's easy to put up and the lights are already on it, makes life so much easier.
As for the smell... that's what wax burners are for.

I don't have a Christmas tree. We always go visit family for Christmas, so there doesn't seem to be much point in going to the trouble of putting one up. But if I were going to have one, it'd be real. A small one, in a pot, that I could plant somewhere in the spring.

I put up my artificial tree last weekend and have to say it looks pretty, with all
    nice decorations and lights.
