It's fairly simple, with some of the kits. There will likely be an initial investment in some equipment. There are other methods of brewing that are slightly more complicated, and more time consuming, but they result in a better product IMO, and it's even cheaper. It's a hobby I find enjoyable.

I just ordered a couple heating belts for my fermenters, because my last 3 batches fermented at too cold of a temperature. I plan to make a stout next, this will be my first stout, and I have no idea how it'll turn out.

But do you go around smelling like beer all the time? From making it, that is.

Most of you know I make jewelry...

I also work in polymer clay. I make beads:

I'm working on a bunch of those little bottle for gifts right now.

Yes, but not from making it.

I cross stitch, and someday will actually find some time to teach myself to crochet. I don't have any pictures, though. It takes me forever to finish something, I seem to work in spurts. I have two Christmas stockings ready to put together, I should get that done so I can hang them this year! (hubby got me a nice sewing machine for my birthday 2 years ago, and I've never used it!) Eventually we will all have cross stitched stockings.

Been working on a lighthouse picture for my sister for years. By the time I get it finished, she will be on to something else, and won't want to hang it. Although some of the hold up with that is I ran out of a couple of the colors of thread, and no where in town to buy more. Was hesitant about ordering online, in case the color wasn't just right. We just got a JoAnn's store, opened this month, so I have no excuse any more, do I?

Working on a teddy bear picture for myself, too. My biggest thing is time, I get busy with everyday stuff, or reading, and these projects kind of get forgotten about for a while.

my dad used to brew beer when I was a kid. My job was putting the caps on the bottles.

One time he was having a big party, and bottled some, but not all. the next day, all the adults had the trots and they thought maybe the oysters were bad. Then, when my dad finished bottling the beer, in the bottom he found a shampoo bottle with the lid off. Apparently one of my brothers thought that would be a good addition.

If I recall correctly, you aren't supposed to drink the beer right away anyway....it's supposed to sit for a while after bottling.

I'm so glad a started this thread. I love seeing all the crafts everyone does.

Nice! I didn't know that, actually. Jewelry making and polymer clay were already on my list of things to try (well, I've done a little jewelry, but not much), but what is that last thing? Those bottles are so cool.

This thread is very dangerous for me. ...

This is me. Anyone else? (Adapted from the awesome blog Hyperbole and a Half, which is a little NSFW because of some swearing.)

That is my issue--there are very few crafts I haven't enjoyed doing. I do or have done knitting, crocheting (prefer knitting), sewing, stained glass, locker hooking, ceramics, a little needlepoint, jewelry, traditional rug hooking, weaving (rigid heddle loom only so far), gourd decorating, concrete, carpentry projects. Seems like there's more but that's what immediately comes to mind.

My mom crochets, but I really want to learn to knit. (I like the end results better.) I find the thought a little intimidating, though.
