Seriously????.......THE best??????
I love John Carpenter, and Love Stephen King, but this film just didn't do it for me.
It's not even on my personal top 50 list.
oh BOY !![]()
I believe that Christine was a good movie, though with todays advancements in film, it could be turned into a better movie. This is my opinion. My favourite scene, which if done today could really chill you, would be the scene where Christine on fire runs down the road and runs over Buddy Repperton. I had nightmares about a car on fire chasing me after I saw that scene. My daughter agrees that there should be a sequel because Christine was not done her business. Her fascination with Christine, both book and movie, has taken her to the task of beginning to write a sequel. If she finishes it I will let you know if it does justice.
To ME this IS the BEST movie. But that's the reason they make so many, not everyone likes the same thing. I'd LOVE to see a sequel, and from nearly everyone I've asked a LOT of people think so. I hope SOMEONE does it!
Just finished reading the book, so now feel I have the luxury of an opinion
The film was good - enjoyed it very much. The book, of course, was better. Much.
The film diverged from the book in a very important way though . I'd welcome a film that followed the book more.
Contrary to some, I don't think CGI is that important. If the story is good then you don't need CGI - they are the icing on the cake, not the cake itself. Added to that, it's often what you DONT see that is more frightening than what you DO see. The film did more than good enough job with Christine's 'rebuild' capability, so a new movie just for CGI is likely to be like most remakes ..... kaka. poo poo. yuk.
So if a remake followed the book more, then I'd say there was something worthwhile in it.
As far as a sequel goes .... nope. There's a kind of fear in the book that it might 'live' on somehow but I think that's best left in our subconsious LOL.
But a PREQUEL - the story of LeBay, and whether the demonic-ness of the car found him or whether he created it (a la tulpa) - now that would be very interesting... very interesting indeed. Mr King?
if any film was begging to be made closer to the original novel, then christine is it.for me ,the film is so different that its only the basic plot that connects the film to the book.if it was remade properly,it would be a film that would scare the bejesus out of everyone that went to see it.
also, you can polish a turd.it takes a lot of time, patience and polish but all you will end up with is a polished turd!!
Hummmmmm, I haven't seen the movie yet I read the book...What can I say?????? It is great and kept me awake may nights just for not being able to stop turning the pages! LOL I love it.
