I gave in and read it as well. Not good writing by any means. I also do not understand why women find Christian Grey a sexy character. I found him to be an ********. Plus, Anastasia got on my nerves with her lip biting and heart palpitations.
I also hope some of my favorite men (i.e.: Jared Padalecki, Ryan Gosling, Benedict Cumberbatch) will stay far far away from playing Grey in the movie!! Their names have been mentioned, but I think they are too smart to do such a thing and will stay away.
I was watching Inside Edition the other night, and they had a segment about babies being conceived due to women being turned on by the books. They called the babies "Greybies". I wanted to vomit. And how horrifying for the child when they come into their teen years to find out their moms were on Inside Edition talking about it!
I read all three; the writing sucked but I thought the first one was okay in terms of erotica. Two & three were a joke. If you are looking for GOOD S&M eroctica, try Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty trilogy. Although I'll warn you, volumes 2 & 3 get progressively more hard core, so not for the squeemish...
