Can I suggest changing the title of this thread so more people can understand what it is about?
Have changed the title but if that still isn't catching attention, I'm open to suggestions.
A SKMB con would be fatastic! I'd like to share some thoughts that would help in the expense department: Camping. Especially if the meeting point is in Ohio. Some of the campgrounds have showers and laundry. There is swimming, boating, fishing, and relaxation for reading. Imagine the tales to be told around that campfire! And for those inclined to a less country-fried stay, there are lower cost, clean, mom and pop motels nearly everywhere in the state.
We have one close by here, too. The Paul Bunyan Campground is within 15 minutes of downtown Bangor. I've never had reason to stay there but I've heard from others that it's a nice one to stay at. I just noticed that one of their features is Halloween in August.
The Paul Bunyan Campground is rockin'! Halloween in August! Even if we don't vote to go here I'd like to go just to go.
I'm beginning to seriously think that the first SKMB Con should be in Maine, we can keep a committee going that will check out other places to meet in following years. I think I'm in campaign mode now LOL!
Love the new thread title, way better!
Camping? Hopefully a reasonably priced motel would be nearby. I think it's "roughing it" if you have to walk downstairs at the Holiday Inn to get to a Coke machine.
I so happy camping has been brought up in this thread too! I'm going to check out the Paul Bunyan Campground.
Dsurrett, there ususally are hotels close to campgrounds. And with this Paul Bunyan one being just outside of Bangor, I'm sure you could get a hotel there.
