Jillian came in to work with me yesterday as part of "Bring Your Kid To Work Day". Technically you're supposed to be at least 8 years old but they bent the rules for her (she is 6 and a half but very well behaved). We had a great day.

I took her to breakfast in the cafeteria, took her to a business meeting (she mostly sat in the corner with another girl playing on an iPod), introduced her to lots of people, took her out to lunch (and a nearby toy store) and then had an afternoon of kids activities (crafts, sign-language, games, and foreign coins). The day went by really fast and she loved it, she actually didn't want to go home.

I gave her her own "office" too so she could draw and stuff during times when I needed to check in to my email and make phone calls. She was obsessed with our mail room and kept making me check in to see if I got any mail. At the end of the day I got a letter from our CEO congratulating me on 20 years of service!

Socks? Rocked right the freak off! It was an amazing show, start to finish.

About halfway through, I was totally blissed out, and yeah, I was sober. They did a little jam session at the end of "It's Good to be King", and I think if I would have had an aneuryism at that moment, I would have went out peacefully. They started off with the big hits, then played 3 or 4 lesser known tracks. When Petty was dancing around on stage with the tambourine, I got all fuzzy because I remembered John. I had posted a pic of Petty once when I first joined up a couple years ago, and JD and I had quite a conversation about it. So I'm dedicating that little slice of my memory of the show to him.

So exciting! A day well deserved. 20 years of service ,should be so proud. And Jillian ,sounds like she too had a great day. Such a moment to share with her,makes beautiful memories.Was it hard to leave her home this morning?
