I am happy today because I inadvertently circumcised two of my toes for free, because I'm pretty certain my insurance doesn't cover acts of God and idiocy.
I don't use V8/tomato juice in either my stew or my homemade vegetable soup. The first time I ever made vegetable soup my husband was watching. He looked at me and asked "aren't you supposed to put tomato juice in that"? I guess that's the way a lot of people make it( his mother) but I had never heard of making it that way. I will probably try it that way someday just to see how it tastes.
I've never had it with tomatoes either but have seen recipes that do put them in. I'm not usually one to be afraid to experiment with recipes but know I like beef stew without them so that's one that if it ain't broke, don't fix it for me. Kind of like clam chowder--the idea of putting tomatoes in it is just blasphemous!![]()
The nice thing about any kind of soup or stew is the malleability of the recipe.
As far as tomatoes in chowda, I'm with ya Ms Mod, blasphemy!
What about Manhattan clam chowder?Kind of like clam chowder--the idea of putting tomatoes in it is just blasphemous!
