So, I checked out it and "The Passage", and am going to curl up with those for the next week or so. I really enjoy reading this thread, because it's introduced me to authors and books I probably would never have found on my own, most all of which I've enjoyed. Until later.
    I really enjoyed Cronin's books.

Deep into the first of the trilology, The Strain, by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan. A vampire virus gone epidemic in New York City is the main theme. Interesting, always interesting to see a new twist on vampires. Definitely not sparkly vampires. But I liked the ones in the Passage a bit better. Both are scary and were a threat to humanity as described.

    Island - Richard Laymon

This is my first book of his. How did I go through life and miss this guy? I'm loving this book.

I've just started Blake crouch's Pines. I hope the book is as good as the description on the back cover!! ( it sort of reminds me of Misery... spooky hospital, middle of nowhere etc)

I finished Island by Richard Laymon (my first Laymon). I really enjoyed this and the ending was really great. Dean Koontz does the intro to the book (he was a friend of Richard Laymon) and mentions how depraved Laymon's characters can get. When I was about halfway through, I was thinking that it wasn't so depraved but man did that change There was a lot of humor amongst all the depravity so that helped soften it a little. It was good and very hard to put down.
