Hi guys, I have just finished the 7th DT book an hour ago, and I am still reeling! Don't know how I feel about the ending just yet. However I do have a few questions, (I read through all 7 books in under 3 weeks so it's quite possible in my haste to finish the books I've missed a few things).
With regards to the ending, Roland appears to have to go through the whole cycle again (Ka is a wheel)- but does that mean everything Roland has done is erased? Meaning are the beams still close to breaking point and haven't been saved, the Crimson King is still alive, the Tet Corporation doesn't exist etc..? Or has that happened in an alternate world/universe?
In the new cycle, will Roland draw Eddie, Jake and Susannah to him again this time or will his ka-tet be formed of different people ? Are Susannah, Jake and Eddie and potentially Oy living happily in the Nozz-a-la version of New York word even as Roland carries on across the desert after Walter?
And what if Roland just stopped, what if he decided that the Tower wasn't worth it- for example after releasing the Breakers, or after erasing the Crimson King, what if he turned around and cried off his quest for the Tower, would he have gone on and lived his life to the full then died and been released from the cycle or would he still come back to the same point of following Walter across the desert. What I'm trying to ask (not very eloquently I might add) is, is the reason that Roland is doomed to Ka's cycle because he refuses to end his quest for the Tower? What will it take for Roland to actually to escape Ka's endless cycle? And ultimately what is the Tower? Is it Roland? If not- what the hell does it want???
Any suggestions? I'm a newbie so apologies if these questions have been answered endlessly already
Also I have been hopelessly (at least for the last hour) been trying to find any Stephen King interviews regarding the DT series, but no joy, does anyone else know of any?
