Oh, forgot to say - as director, the one and only Christopher Nolan.

Thank you thank you thank you!!! I thought I was the only one who thought casting was so off in this. For instance could we have picked someone taller for the "Tall Walking Dude"? I mean even the guy frome storm of the century or the guy who played Leland Gaunt woulda been a better choice. The other most miscast was Frannie, Stu, and Nick. Thank goodness for Ray Walston!!!
I saw the series first then read the book and the characters that nailed it for me were Jamie Sheridan as Flagg and defo Adam Storke as Larry.
After checking out Joshua Jackson though he does have a Storke-esq look about him so I'd give my thumbs up on that one. I loved Edd Harris as Starkey though and eventhough he somewhat olde rnow I don't think he's lost any of his talent, I'd keep him.
Oooh, Timothy Olyphant as Flagg? I wouldn't say so myself but hey-ho.
One more thing....I don't know how or which character (as none spring to mind) but I'd defo find a place for Ian McShane. Such an excellent, underrated actor. Maybe Lloyd but that might be a bit controversial...maybe as Flagg??
I agree....Will Patton as Lloyd.
I am one of those that liked the miniseries with some reservations..
I think most of the casting was ok except for the previously mentioned Molly Ringwald...she made Frannie a whinny totally unlikable character.
Is there one scene where she is not either crying or whining about something? What did Harald and Stu see in her?
I think the biggest fault with the mini series was the special effects..or lack of..
the low production values....
... I remember that scene when the group had started for Las Vegas and Stu broke his leg. It was suppose to be in the mountains but it didn't look very dangerous to me..Stu was a real wienie to break his leg in the terrain that I was seeing. And the ending could have been handled better.
I remember Blue Oyster Cult and Crowded House for some of the soundtrack music...good choices.
If it were to be done over it would have to be a mini series again..or a series...A theatrical release would annihilate too much content and probably drench us in special effects..... and I would want King to do the screenplay..
and also as mentioned...I would prefer good actors that fit the bill over big name stars..
Larry: Dominic Mohanogan Fran: Evangeline Lilly. The guy who plays tigg on Sons of Anarchy for Flagg.
I didn't think the mini-series was all THAT badly cast. Of course I was already primed to love it because I loved the novel so much and having read it several times (the uncut version) before the series came out I could fill in all the character motivations, back stories, etc as I watched. I still watch the show at least once every year and never get tired of it. That being said, oh PLEASE get rid of Molly Ringwald - all she could do to show any emotion was to bug out her eyes! Oh gosh she was HARD to watch! But I LOVED Gary Sinese as Stu and Rob Lowe as Nick and the guy who played Larry. And Ray Walston (?) as Glenn. I even liked the actor who played M-O-O-N spells Tom Cullen - he was just as I imagined him in the book. Now as I re-read the novel I envision these actors.

It's happening!!!

I would like to see Joshua Jackson in the role of Stu Redman rather than Larry Underwood. I feel he would be a great stu, and almost as good as Gary Sinise.
I think Jonah Hill could do a PERFECT Harold Lauder. Maybe too old by now...maybe not. I think he could still pass for a teenager. He'd have to drop a bit of weight during the production, but recent photos show he is capable of this.
