How did duddits know?

I'm quite sure that Duddits is a breaker.

In the film, Duddits was a kind of 'saviour' - the fixer to the problem. In the book, he came across more as an 'enabler' - enabling the whole Mr Grey thing as well as enabling his 'demise'.

So obviously, I thought the book was far better in that respect at least, as well as other areas.
