I just finished read Pet Semetary Last week and I must say it was tough to get through as a new father, but what a great novel. It just took me so long to get through because there were times I didn't want to pick it up, but I forced myself to read it and I'm glad I did. I kept wanting to keep Louis from going through with the reburial but I can totally relate to how he got to that point of irrationality.

My question is how much is Jud Crandall to blame for this? Sure, I suppose he never anticipated Gage dying but he really should have kept the Micmac burial ground a secret. Was it really necessary to ressurrect Church though? It would have been better for Ellie to face the truth about Church than for Jud to get Louis to unwittingly bring Church back to life. I suppose you could say that Jud was being manipulated by the power of the place itself to share the secret since it's obvious there were supernatural forces at work, but I really think Jud could have decided not to share the secret too.

Also, about the end, I know everything is speculation when it comes to this, but did anyone ever consider that perhaps Louis' plan for Rachel worked and that she is actually not the demon like Gage who afterall was bury a few days after getting killed? Rachel was buried the very same day that the demon Gage killed her. I know it mentions something about her hand being cold on Louis' shoulder and her voice being full of dirt, but that would be expected. What if there is a certain time limit within which to bury something/someone that might effect how they come back? My theory is that maybe it work but maybe the grief of what happened to Gage makes this ressurection futile. It's just a thought.

Also, I was just thinking maybe it would be cool for Ellie to come back in some way shape or form in another SK story (if she hasn't already). I keep thinking wouldn't it be cool if she hooked up with Danny Torrence? Ever since reading about the possible sequel to the Shining (Doctor Sleep), I can't help but think how perfct it would be for those two to end up together.
