I remember reading Bag of Bones and I found it haunting and I wanted more.

It IS Awesome! SK is the best story-teller, and his down-Maine accent will make the book worth the listen ☺

I think one of the great signs of a great writer is that they get a reaction out you when you read it. I think SK writes beautiful ghost stories, (Bag of Bones, Duma Key). I was upset also about Mattie. And Kia knew too much for a child her age, which I found heartbreaking. But over all, Bag of Bones is one of my favorite SK stories.

Yes!!! I got the same way after reading Bag of Bones,Cujo and Blaze. Wile after reading some S.K books i feel sad because i'm going to miss the characters so much, wile other books just seem to leave me sad, going over it agan and agan in my head trying to make sence of why it had to end that way.

But so often that is the way Stephen operates, he works hard to make you love the character and then kills them off at a most unexpected moment. I've been upset more times than I could mention because of this. But it shows how rich the writing is.

I'm re-reading Bag of Bones after many years. I was fuzzy on the story except the scene

in the trailer where Mike tells Mattie he'll come over that night, then she killed moments later
, that scene was still fresh in my memory and reading it again made me feel as sad and empty as the first time I read it. Great writing indeed.

I'm rereading this at the mo. I know its been ages since I read it but I cant remember any of it. I know many people on here hold it in high regard so I'm looking forward to this read. Only 50 pages in but so far so good!

I just got done re-reading this (third time), and I have to agree and say this time I was left sad. The last times I read this book I was still in my teens, and I remember thinking it was unfair, but it didn't leave me thinking about it so much afterwards as this time through. I wanted Mike and Mattie to be together and happy with Kyra, even when I knew what was going to happen. But I did like the hopeful tone in the end where

Mike's working to get custody of Ki
. That cheered me up a little.
