I saw this one about 5 months ago....I was glued to the screen. It was kind of strange, but I liked Rob Lowe's performance, and the special effects were pretty good. Any comments?

I rented it about 4 months ago and really liked it. I thought Rob Lowe was great, and I was pleased to see André Braugher had been cast - he's one of my favorites. Samantha Mathis wouldn't have been my first choice for Susan, but she pulled it together. However, the performance I liked most of all was that of Donald Sutherland.
Was it filmed in Maine? Canada? I don't remember.
That version was filmed in Australia.

You're telling me, Steph!
You Canadians sure have some weird pastimes! I hope you were freed without injury!![]()
I was kind of mixed on this. I preferred the original, although one could argue the new version was closer to the book.
But I'm sure it was more an age thing. When Salem's lot first came out on TV it was big event and we were so much younger. It was the talk of the school I went to.
Later I read the book and it blew me away.
Hence my expectations might have been so much higher watching the remake.
I thought the new one took too many liberties and changed too many things....
Same here.
lowe was fine, bad bit of casting but his performance was...fine
hauer was just hauer being hauer, not a great choice for the master
did not like what they did with callahan at all, and i didn't like cromwell playing him either
do not like the guy who played matt burke (didn't like him in the mist either, he rankles me)
overall, i just really, really missed mason as straker. love that guy, he would laugh in the face of any sutherland
not a bad series (could have been a lot better though)
I have seen this. And for me it was really good. Rob Lowe was great. I haven't seen the old version of Salem's lot. That would be really nice to see it sometimes.
