I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. It resonated perfectly with my own boyhood, coming up in the deep South of the 60s.
I'm about 2/3 through McCammon's Swan Song. I can see how it could be compared to The Stand, but I prefer King's writing style and narrative abilities. No great surprise there. Still, Swan Song is very good.
