The only time I had seen this was once in 1998 on HBO. I recently watched it again and it was just as good as I remember.

I actually thought this movie was rather good. I expected it to be another horrible adaptation, but I was surprised. It's not a great movie, but it is still pretty good.

Hard to get a copy here in the US, as well. Thank God for YouTube! This is one of my favorite King adaptations, all the better because its quality was so unexpected.

I've heard that King liked it so much he co-wrote a screenplay for a sequel, but no takers. Seems incredible to me that they couldn't interest anyone in it - especially given the vampire craze of the last few years. Granted, TNF is more traditional, (i.e. as someone said above, no damn sparkling!) but still.

Though SK is known for the length of some of his novels,I have to say short stories like this,and others are some of his best work in my opinion..one of my favorites is Crouch End,which evokes images of The Mist.. a short story by another prolific author,Canavan's Backyard by Joseph Payne Brennan,and The Dead Valley,by Ralph Adams Cram also go into that genre..something about all you know and hold familiar,suddenly not being familiar at all..disturbing and well played by these authors..there is so much good short fiction out there,short stories fit my reading style welldue to time..Hope you new members enjoy the Board!

The region 2 PAL dvd of this film is uncut. Just a more seconds of gore at the climax of the film in different instances.

Anyways, this actually had a short theatrical run, but I can't remember if it was before or after it came on HBO. I can't quite remember if I saw the AD in the newspaper and was like "Hey I already saw this on HBO, thats kinda odd" or if I saw it on HBO and was like "I just saw an AD for this playing in the theaters just a couple weeks ago"
