I'm the father of five. Try to mess with one and see what a decreped old salt can do. no way he would get any child as long as I could help it.

No way JOSE, you can not have my child. God gave her to me.
That's the best answer you can possibly give
That was an annoying little kid.
I don't know if would give it freely to him or not.
You all are saying you wouldn't, but you can't really tell becaus it didn't happen... But if it was real, and you had to decide you can't really say 100% shore what you would do.
He already knew which child he wanted already. It would be hard to be in a position like that. The townspeople had no choice in the matter. I would not like to have a choice like that.
I'd never give my child to him... maybe if there was a Henry Bowers type kid on the island...
If I lived on Little Tall Island I would not give a child to Andre Linoge. Instead I would get all the best gossip in town from him. He knew everything!
Normally, I'd say no...but now that my son is 14 and I'm experiencing all of the joys of a teenager...I would SERIOUSLY consider it!!!!! LOL!!!!
(of course, I am only kidding)
I could not have supported giving a child to Linoge. And to me, I think the movie portrayed that the town knew that at the end, after it was done. The island keeps its secrets, and life went on, but nothing was ever the same for Little Tall...
I'd strongly disagree with giving a child to that monster, but considering the alternative option..... What is really the right decision?
I know what you are saying, but was there "really" an alternative - at the end I felt that perhaps Linoge was a huge con man - not saying he wasnt really evil - but what if the town had "called his bluff" - would they really have died?
He obviously knew which child he wanted right from the start, so that whole thing "pretending" to draw the balls etc was a front - so maybe the whole thing was?
Saying all that its easy to type this while playing devils advocate behind a keyboard. If you were on that island and it "really" happened you would probably do just the same as they did
A wonderful tale, and brilliantly clever in showing the pressure of the "pack" mentality of the townspeople.
I could debate this story for literally hours!![]()
