    Knowing really sucked though...

Watched The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) on TV at 3:00 this morning. Loved the sets:

the houses and rooms and windows are all askew. I'd like to see more movies with such surrealistic sets, but I wonder if another movie with anything like them exists.
. And I loved how it ends, of course.

Watched The Big Lebowski last night for the first time ever. Awesome. Funniest movie I've seen in a long time. My brother is a bowler and now I finally understand the importance of league games. John Goodman is brilliant in this movie.

Went to see Fright Night in 3D last night with my daughter. It was pretty good. Colin Farrel did a good vampire. Chris Sarandon, who played the vamp in the original, did a cameo. But the best thing was David Tennant. In leather. And shirtless. You ladies know what I'm lying down, here

The 3D was actually not annoying, too.

Spy Kids 4 - good for kids, noit so great for grown ups.

Conan The Barbarian (new version) - endless fighting, no character development.

One Day - emotionally dishonest chickflick.

    Watched some crappy horror flicks.

Zombie High - bad, bad movie from the eighties, starring Virginia Madsen.

The Return of the Living Dead Part 3 - not as terrible as I thought it would be. Some campy acting, but enjoyable.

The Reef - a supposed true story of some Australians swimming in the ocean when their boat sinks. Everyone gets eaten by a great white. The scenes with the shark are cool, there's some intense attacks, but the pacing of the movie was slow. Still, it was well-made.

I watched Wolf Creek - A pretty good Australian horror flick. Australia has vast areas of isolation and a movie like this where people are cut off from all communication is believable and works very well set in the outback.

Also, Day Of The Dead (remake) - Not as good as Romero but not too bad. The zombies are a little too acrobatic in this.

Caught the movie Identity on Starz the other night. I enjoyed it, but about half way through I had a pretty good idea of what exactly was going on, and a vague idea of how it was going to end. It was good, but predictable. I really like John Cusack, and have always found Ray Liotta a bit on the creepy side.
