    Re: Worth Reading?

I like the writing in this book but not the characters. Regardless, it's in my top ten. Not my top five, though.

    Re: favorite story in fdns?

For me: Fair Extension is tops followed closely by 1922. Good Marriage and then Big Driver. Fair Extension was fantastic. I am fascinated by the dark side of humanity...so much closer to us than we...

I kinda liked the Rev Libby.
  5. Re: Christine-Good Book For A 1st Time King Reader?

I certainly do! I doubt Mr. King will ever hear of it. I also don't think he'll ever completely understand the gravity of what his books meant to me as a young kid of about ten (they were a saving...
  6. Re: Christine-Good Book For A 1st Time King Reader?

I'm going to make a confession here and knowing my luck Mr. King himself will see me in court after reading it! :)

When I was very young and shopping at a Woolworth's with my mom, I saw...

    Re: No one's read Firestarter?

Wow-this is one of SK's books that I couldn't put down! Every word in it has meaning. I love Andy-he's such a cool guy.
  9. Re: Who would you want to star as Dale Barbara in the movie?

Touche. But truthfully, the Iraq war isn't THAT old. My brother is only 36 and he just finished up a tour there. Someone older than that may give someone the impression that he was further up the...
  10. Re: Who would you want to star as Dale Barbara in the movie?

In the book, wasn't Dale Barbara in his early thirties? To me, that would leave out a lot of the suggestions, no offense. Timothy Olyphant would be my first thought. Then Josh Duhamel.

    Re: Firestarter

I think George Scott was a very good Rainbird. Also, back in the day when this film was made, that was as good as the graphics got. Not cheap work-OLD work. If that movie were remade, imagine the...

Re: what is god to you?

For this one, I will quote Mark Twain: "The quickest cure for christianity is to read the bible." 'nuff said.

    Re: Timeless Carrie issues

Scarecrowjoe: I can't say I blame you there. So happy to hear that you like the book! You make me want to re-read it. It's been a while since I've been been engrossed in that one.

    Re: The movie...good or bad?

The movie was alright but if you're watching it for the first time, you have to keep in mind that it was originally made quite a long time ago. Once you get past that, it's not a bad watch. I also...

    Re: How influential was Christine?

Scarywriter-I am in complete agreeance with you. Christine was and still is a highly influential piece of fiction. Whenever a piece of machinery seems to have a mind of its own, what do people call...

Re: Your latest Stephen King related purchase...

I can honestly say I've never bought a King book secondhand or received one as a hand-me-down. My patience wears thin as I anxiously await the next installment of my King library. The only King...

Re: 5 best and 5 worst King book

Wow, a lot of these lists are mostly made up of newer King work. I have to say I love the classics most of all. There are a few newer ones that are alright but my greatest loves are the ones that...

    Re: No one's read Firestarter?

I read Firestarter at least once a year. It was one of the first books I picked up by SK and to this day, I regard it as one of the best. I love the complexity of Rainbird and the relationship...
  20. Re: Which King book (if any) made you cry? ***SPOILERS***

The only one I can't take is in Apt Pupil. The torture of the animals is too much for me.

Re: Your latest Stephen King related purchase...

I just finished The Gingerbread Girl on audio (purchased at a Borders for a slightly lower than normal price) and now I'm moving on to Blaze on audio.
