    Re: newbie question

Personally, I think he's done really good work over the last several years. It does kind of seem like he was in a slump for awhile, not writing bad books, but strange ones that were hard to follow. ...

That was a straitjacket? I thought it was a chew toy. Oops. I don't have to turn it in when I leave, do I? Could be awkward...

Oh, and welcome. Enjoy your stay. We're not all crazy here, not...

Yeah, it's the one about the teeth.
  5. Re: A new day. No more bad dreams. Let's start fresh.

I'll second the Ragamuffin Gospel recommendation. I think reading that would be very helpful to you, or at least help you understand the idea of grace over shame and fear. It's a great book.

There are a lot of good anti-anxiety medications, it's just a matter of finding the right one. Even with anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds, those usually aren't enough on their own. The point...

I wish that the animated version hadn't fallen through. That could have been cool.

    Finally watched this...

Well about a year ago I found Quicksilver Highway at a pawn shop, and I never got around to watching it. I finally watched it tonight. My thought was it would have been a good series. Christopher...

    Re: Music

When writing songs, write the songs that mean something to you. If you want or need to write a song about God, that's what you write, if you want to write a song about Night of The Living Dead,...

When the predecessors of modern GUIs for operating systems were being formulated, there was one man on the team who had to inflict his grievous will upon the masses. He convinced the other designers...

I can believe that. We already know one of his dogs, Trixie (who is dog), is a published author.

    Re: Stephen was hacked?!

It is the worst thing about being famous, I suppose. You can't do anything nefarious without John Q. Public finding out eventually.

    Re: Stephen was hacked?!

Well I'm kind of upset at this. I know if you read his early books, then his later books, his voice changes, but now we know why. This is just awful. Assuming we can trust those filthy...

    Re: Tips for venting...........

It's something I think about a lot, the concept of love as Jesus taught it. He tells us to forgive endless times. I find it hard to forgive. He says to love your enemies. I find myself angry and...

Re: Christian rock or rock from any other faith?

I grew up with Christian rock, so stuff like Keith Green and Petra and early Amy Grant were the first things I heard. It made an impact, and some of it is good. There's some I will still listen to...

If someone was to come up to me and say "Stephen King's books are scary and morally filthy" I would have to nod and agree. Yep. They sure are. That's why they are wonderful. They show life...

Re: EX Destroyed my Stephen King Collection

Glad to hear you're rebuilding. For hardbacks, I'd check with local used bookstores. They tend to not want hardbacks because of the size and a lack of demand, but they always have a lot, and...

Re: Hands Up! Who had trouble with Gunslinger?

I liked it, but I think I may have quit reading it for a few months the first time. It wasn't really gripping me then. When I did actually read it, I loved it because the world it showed was so...

I lost track of my oldest friends a long time ago. The oldest friend I have I have known since I was 16. She was the one who first gave me the Dark Tower novels, and insisted I read them.

    Re: Dark Tower question

It will work either way, it fits well between 4 and 5, but also works on its own. I find after book 4, I'm ready for the plot to move back to the quest for the tower, so I'd go on to book 5 because...
