Didn't read the whole thread, but wanted to jump in and say if Ron Howard continues to be attached, I will continue to be glad the project is not going through. Can't think of a worse fit.

I know books 5-7 in the series are very polarizing, and that there is a large group that flat out hate them. I just finished Wolves and I thought it was great; I just don't see it. Without spoiling...
