  1. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

Yeah your'e right, I apologize to him. It's just frustrating, because I am trying to look at things in a practical manner of what could realistically get done and it keeps degenerating into "f**k La...
  2. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

That's the big question isn't it?

would suspect that there would have to be a process in place where mental health professionals would be required or at least not prohibited from reporting...
  3. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

I'm not an NRA member, but if they would add some sort of secure storage (gun safes) proposal, I think this would be a good approach.

LaPierre stressed that the NRA will continue to push for...
  4. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

General medical issues should have no bearing. That info could be made available to the police when they run a plate or license number without me having to have a different colored license or plate. ...
  5. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

Hmmm, That scares me more at least as much as the Tae Kwan Do. I forfeit. "Butthurt" comment cheerfully withdrawn.
  6. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

I suppose I'd go for a state gun owners license before I would go for registration of each individual firearm one owns.

I was thinking in terms of protecting a potential buyer from...
  7. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

Hoss is right, it was just an opportunity for a call back joke. I think it refers to hurt feelings or something but the term does make me chuckle a bit. "butthurt" LOL
  8. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

Well, instead of being butthurt about it LOL, maybe we can use it as an opportunity to turn down the heat and look for common ground?
  9. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

So for you MsMod it's semi auto gun bans or nothing?

Barring some late game miracle, you have already lost.

Now, I think it's time to start looking at other proposals that have a chance of...
  10. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

Good question. I don't know. The NRA has always advocated tough on crime proposals even though criminals would likely be a good customer base. The NRA also did support the Staggers bill during the...
  11. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

It appears the "assault weapons" ban is defeated.

Does anyone want to discuss other proposals? I mentioned this one that the NRA helped to write but the only thing people seem to want to talk...
  12. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

I didn't miss it. There was little in there that I found objectionable. I don't understand what you are expecting here. If you want to debate specific proposals that's fine, we might find some...

Re: Sometimes 10 rounds isn't enough.

OK, but when someone poses a radical idea like full confiscation of all firearms, one might want to consider a possible consequence.
  14. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

And your side isn't acknowledging that my side has put forth at least two possible ideas. Increasing school security and this:

A group of bipartisan senators introduced legislation on Wednesday...

Re: Sometimes 10 rounds isn't enough.

It's been debated ad nauseum. I have stated many times what I support as far as efforts to reduce gun violence. The semi auto ban just isn't one of them.

    Re: Guns

And he would have still been excoriated for even showing his face. I believe the only thing he could have done that would have muted criticism is to immediately come out in favor of more restrictions...

Re: Sometimes 10 rounds isn't enough.

Only after you send Stormtroopers door to door to confiscate the nearly 300 million already out there. How do you think that's going to go down in rural America? Do you really want a civil war? Don't...
  18. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

I was paraphrasing but whatever, I still believe that Republicans were largely ignored and given short shrift in the healthcare debate, but sticking to the issue at hand, I stand by my comments that...
  19. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

I don't believe it Guido, there were many Republican ideas that never saw the light of day. Tort reform. competition across state lines, etc. I can only tell you what I heard concerning an exchange...

    Re: Guns

Also sorry for your loss, but there are a couple of things I'd like to comment on.

All states observe background checks, there is no state where you can walk into a gun store and buy a gun with...

Really? Where do you live? I don't know any victims of gun violence. I guess my gun crazy location is safer than yours LOL

Re: Sometimes 10 rounds isn't enough.

There seems to be an anti gun culture as well in that there are some that see no value in recreational shooting or collecting and automatically assume that anyone who owns a gun is putting their and...
  23. Re: Gun control discussions in the wake of the Newtown, CT deaths

People always say that about the other side. Remember when Obama said Republicans aren't coming out with any alternatives on the Health Care issue?

He didn't mention that they were virtually shut...

Re: Sometimes 10 rounds isn't enough.

Well really, who likes to be referred to with the term "butthurt"?

It wasn't particularly clear to me that you were referring to the presence of guns as a deterrent to any attempt of a crime, but...

Re: Sometimes 10 rounds isn't enough.

You assume that the Republican party is dead. People assumed that after the 2008 elections and Democrats got trounced in 2010.

The senate has already dropped the assault weapons ban because they...
