I listened to the Carrie audiobook which I thought was really good. It was actually narrated by Sissy Spacek who played Carrie White in the original movie and SK did the introduction himself.

I like the paperbacks because they're cheaper and does the job just as well.

I think it's the details that makes it creepy. Like SK (in Danse Macbre...I think) says about how there are some places where the angles in a triangle don't add up to 180 degrees. Those minor things...
