Off topic a bit, but Philadelphia is going to host a big shindig - "world family day" ( I never heard of it) but the new pope will be there and I just might go see the festivities.
Never had the chance to be around a pope before, I hope he does not point at me like Donald Sutherland in bodysnatchers.
Selecting the new Pope will begin Tuesday March 12. Here is a brief explanation about the process of selecting a Pope:

Canadian Cardinal Marc Ouellet is well-respected, stemming from his job at the important Vatican office that vets bishop appointments. Less well known is that he has a lovely singing voice and can be heard belting out French folk songs on occasion.
I saw a very honest reporter on CNN last night. I don't know who it was but he was in Rome and on the newscast they were doing all of this predicting of the next pope. They went to the reporter in Rome to ask him who he thought the front runners were and he reeled off a couple of names and then he said he was really embarrassed to be reporting this because there was really no way of knowing anything at all. :biggrin2:
Okay, no disrespect meant but I found this rather funny this morning on my drive in. I usually listen to NPR because it is the only station my stupid junk car will pick up. They were having quite a discussion about the voting in of the new pope. The people they were talking to was a professor of christian religion from Africa I think and a guy from Italy. Both had heavy accents. They were talking about how when the new pope would be voted in and come out on a certain balcony. They were talking about pulling the curtains back, the pope would come out. When the pope comes out....The pope comes out....It is important for the pope to be seen by the people.... You get the idea, right? Well in their heavy accents, it didn't sound like "pope", it sounded like "poop". I must have looked like a total idiot because I was driving in traffic and I was in tears, I was laughing so hard. The Catholic Church will probably put a hit out on me for even telling you this.
First vote yields Black Smoke. No Pope is chosen. Next voting will be tomorrow.
I sure hope they do a better job of agreeing than Congress. I want all those people out of St. Peter's Square by the time I get there! ;-D
