Re: Suggestions for the movie cast of 11/22/63...? [May contain spoilers]
I couldn't help but think that Dennis Hopper would have played a great Green Card Man if he were still alive. How about Steve Buscemi as John Clayton?
Re: Suggestions for the movie cast of 11/22/63...? [May contain spoilers]
I meant to say Dennis Hopper would have made a great Yellow Card Man. I like M. J. Fox as the Green Card Man. And agree that Brian Dennehy as Al T. would be right.
Re: Suggestions for the movie cast of 11/22/63...? [May contain spoilers]
I did too!
I was kind of thinking of a Mark Ruffalo for Jake.
Re: Suggestions for the movie cast of 11/22/63...? [May contain spoilers]
I second Joseph Gordon Levitt as Oswald.
And me as an extra bc that's my birthday. Which is why I bought the book. I was born in Dallas a couple hours after JFK died. My mother said it was because she went into labor a month early because of the shock....but now I think it probably had more to do with the heavy smoking while pregnant.
So Ive sort of ended up a collector of memorabilia mainly because a lot of people have just given me stuff over the years. Id like to get King to sign the book for me. I wonder if he would if I showed him mybirth certificate or my ID.

I kept visualizing Josh Lucas as Jake/George.

Oh my god, I love this thread so much. This is my first comment here, I just finished the book yesterday after a week of almost nonstop reading apart from work, and I had such a hard time picturing Sadie. But after reading every single one of the comments I just know what I pictured her like! Thank you so much tenngolfer, Rosamund Pike is the spitting image of the Sadie Dunhill that lives in my head.

As for Jake I first pictured him sort of like Channing Tatum but then he morphed in my head to a more of a Mark Ruffalo type, and since I'm a huge Ruffalo lover I'd have to choose him. Plus I don't thing Tatum would do the part justice (Sorry if there are any fans of his here. I like him but I don't think he is good for the part).
And while I was reading I just couldn't help but picture Frank Dunning as Eric Dane. I just saw him as that part so clearly. I think he would be amazing as that crazy son of a bitch!
Re: Suggestions for the movie cast of 11/22/63...? [May contain spoilers]
I don't do that. In fact I hate when movies precede books, b/c it really does ruin your ability to imagine your OWN characters.
He's the one who said that too. A long time ago, he said movies limit imagination b/c they show you what the character looks like and there's no way you can imagine details for yourself. So I always try to read the book first and THEN watch the movie.
But Stephen King's books are the only ones where the movie is even halfway similar to the book anyway. I watched a movie on Chiller called Ghoul, by Brian Keene (the book was anyway), but the movie deviated from the book in a major way. He said so, but only in terms of wanting to know everyone's reaction to it, which I couldn't give anyway.
I'm glad the movie varied, b/c I've never read Ghoul all the way through. It's kind of intense and my work was also intense during that time (I'm a paramedic) and I had to put the book aside.

Re: Suggestions for the movie cast of 11/22/63...? [May contain spoilers]
Jake/George: Jim Sturgess (Heartless) or Nicholas Hoult (A Single Man, Skins)
Sadie: Jess Weixler (Teeth) or Catherine McCormack (28 Days Later)
Deke: Tim Robbins
Ellie Dockerty: Jessica Lange
Lee Harvey Oswald: Joseph Gordon Levitt
Al Templeton: Steve Buscemi
Harry Dunning: Robert Carlyle
I think that this is such an interesting story that it wouldn't need the typical folk playing the typical characters.
