I read "the husband". Didn't care for it much. For me, I could almost see Koontz looking at his typewriter, thinking.... well, damn, I've painted myself in a corner here... I guess I could just have the bad guy drop his gun or something, that'll be easy! lol. I can't remember exactly what happened in that book but I do remember thinking that it was really unrealistic and the happy ending tacked on at the end seemed more than cheesy.
...I don't think Koontz is in King's ballpark, artistically speaking
