I would suggest Daniel Craig. The reason being his performance in cowboys and aliens.
I did say his performance and not the movie. Discuss.

Javier Bardem was set to play Roland but has since left the project. Russell Crowe was the last name associated with the part but whether that will be the final selection by the time it finally is produced remains to be seen.
Holy wow.... there have been a few reasonable options so far, but I have to say some of these opinions are worthy of a bullet....lol Shia Labeof as Eddie? REALLY!?!? Johnny Depp as a YOUNG Roland in Megis? OMFG.... he is almost as old as Clint at this point and Roland was supposed to be 15 at that point. Javier Bardem does have a certain chisle to him, but you guys are missing one important fact there.... ROLAND IS WHITE. Not just white, but PALE AS HELL. He is supposed to be tall, lanky, borderline sickly looking. Here are some reasonable options.
Roland- pref. an unknown, but if had to be known .... Daniel Craig, Josh Brolin, Anson Mount,Thomas Jane,Sean Bean,Jim Cavezil
Will Deerborn - Tom Welling or as much as I hate to say this... Zach Efron... those eyes.....
Eddie - Joeseph Levitt, Jared Leto, Jake Gyllenhall, Luke Evans, orlando bloom
Susannah - only one I'm at a loss for... Halle and Jada are too old...lol Rosario Dawson? Nevia from Spartacus maybe?
Jake - Dakota Goyo (real steel) ,
Cort - easiest casting EVER..... RON PEARLMAN.... MAGGOT
Cuthbert - any choice for Eddie that isn't used.... kinda 2 sides of the same coin.
Alain - Tom Felton
Jonas- Gary Oldman, or perhaps..... Clint?
Walter- Fisher Stevens...best evil smile in hollywood...and laugh. Julian McMahon, Robert Knepper
Stephen Deschain - now HE could be Dennis Quaid.....
Gabrielle Deschain - Lucy Lawless makes a great trecherous bitch.
Rea of the Coos - would have to be CG... only old lady that you could maybe get to say c*nt is Betty White.
Father Callahan - Robert Duvall, James Caan
Balazar- Jon Polito
Jack Andolini - James Gandolfini

Well since no one else has mentioned it, I thought it should be noted that David Carradine is dead. I believe that would leave him out of consideration for the role of Roland. His brother Robert was the guy in Revenge of the Nerds. His other brother Keith played Wild Bill Hickock on Deadwood, among many other roles. All three were in The Long Riders. Good movie about the James/Younger gang.
